Southern Rep recently received one month’s notice that it must vacate its venue

Southern Rep, the only year-round professional theatre company in New Orleans, recently received one month’s notice that it must vacate its venue of twenty years. At best, this will cause an unplanned increase in expenses and loss of income from canceled activities. At worst, Southern Rep will be forced to relocate to a venue that does not serve the needs of its audience or the community of artists who have come to rely upon Southern Rep.

Southern Rep has been a mainstay in the New Orleans community for 25 years and serves 14,000+ annual audience members, 750+ students, hundreds of artists, and many local theatre producers who rely upon Southern Rep to provide nationally recognized programming, award-winning world premieres, and opportunities for employment, educational outreach and community collaborations.

Southern Rep will be breaking down and moving the entire theatre on Tuesday January 31st from 10am-5pm, with additional moving days possible on Tuesday February 7th through Thursday February 9th.

If you would like information on volunteering to help Sothern Rep move, you can contact Southern Rep’s Technical Director, Jim Means at jmeans@southernrep.com

Information on other ways to help Southern Rep in this time of transition, including a letter writing campaign in support of the theatre, is available by e-mailing: boxoffice@southernrep.com
